About Valdovų rūmus
The National Museum Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania is a museum of historical residence established in 2009. It is housed in the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in the Lower Castle in Vilnius, which has been restored after 20 years of extensive archaeological and historical research. The museum collects, preserves, researches and presents by various means the historical and cultural heritage of the Lithuanian state and its rulers, the rich and unique archaeological collections, the collections of European applied and fine arts from the Gothic to the Baroque period, and the valuable materials of Lithuanian studies. It is also active in educational and cultural activities, disseminates information on cultural tourism, and facilitates state representative events. The Museum aims to educate civil society and strengthen historical consciousness, to foster national values and to maintain the Lithuanian community throughout the world, to raise awareness of cultural and artistic heritage, and to present the traditional historical and cultural links between European countries and peoples.
